200 OUTLETS CELEBRATION - The Animal Conservation Project
1. PROJECT INFORMATION
As CHAGEE marks 200 outlets across Malaysia, we’re celebrating in a way that goes beyond tea. Together with Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), we’re making a small but meaningful effort to restore habitats and protect wildlife.
2. WHY THIS MATTER?
Our rainforests are home to a rich variety of fruit-eating animals. These species play a vital role in dispersing seeds, allowing forests to regenerate and remain in balance. Without them, our ecosystems grow weaker — and so does our future.
By protecting these animals, we are safeguarding the very heart of Malaysia’s natural heritage.
Key species we’re protecting: Tapir
And other important rainforest residents:
Squirrel, Porcupine, Sambar Deer, Muntijac, Mouse Deer, Colugo, and many more
3. ABOUT TAPIR
The Malayan tapir is not only Malaysia’s gentle giant but also a key seed spreader. Sadly, fewer than 1,500 remain in the wild, making it one of the country’s most endangered animals. Habitat loss and road accidents are the biggest threats to their survival.
4. PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
i) Malayan Tapir Food Bank Project – FELDA GEDANGSA, Selangor
- Planting food trees to feed rescued and captive-breed tapirs at the Sungai Dusun Wildlife Conservation Centre.
ii) Tapir Translocation Equipment
- Donating tapir translocation box to PERHILITAN for relocations or rewilding purpose.
What This Means:
- Tapirs get a varied, nutritious diet.
- Exposure to various forest species for better survival.
- Safer roads and awareness for the public.

6. PROJECT UPDATES
On 30 September 2025, we took a meaningful step in supporting wildlife conservation by planting trees at the Tapir Food Bank in Gedangsa, an area generously provided by FELDA to nurture local wildlife. This space has been transformed into a sustainable food bank for tapirs, helping ensure these incredible animals have a steady source of nourishment.
The food bank benefits both wild tapirs and those under the care of PERHILITAN at Sungai Dusun Wildlife Rescue Centre, located less than 10km away. The plants we’ve cultivated here will grow into a rich source of food, which PERHILITAN will later harvest to support the tapirs in their care.
Thanks to the collective efforts of our donors, we have successfully planted 160 trees, creating a lasting impact for tapirs and their habitat.
The donors include CHAGEE APP members who donated 2,500 tea leaves and buyers of Forest Fiesta 200 Outlets Lanyard and Glass Cup who contributed RM1 for each purchase.
Every tree represents a step forward in protecting wildlife and preserving nature for future generations. As a token of our appreciation, the following people are the members who donated tea leaves to this project — we are proud to recognize their contribution and support for this important cause:
This page will be updated with real progress once the Tapir Conservation Project begins. From tree planting to the handover of translocation equipment, we’ll share every step of the journey so you can see the impact made possible by your support.
